In our opinion, Javea and the Costa Blanca could immediately qualify as an official blue zone. The climate is ideal, the air quality is fantastic, and the way of life is wonderful.
In short … all the ingredients needed to meet the requirements of a blue zone, and a wonderful place to enjoy a holiday or long stay.
We have fallen in love with this place and feel at home here. Another interesting story is that one of our neighbours, when he wanted to leave England, simply Googled ‘the most ideal climate to live in’ before they ended up in Javea.
Mañana, mañana
Here, you can enjoy everything that life has to offer. Being outdoors, the sun, the sea, the beach, nature, flowers and greenery, the singing of the birds, taking a dip in the swimming pool or relaxing on a beach lounger. The delicious food (a 3-course meal at a local restaurant costs €15), the beautiful Spanish wines, having time for an extended lunch, taking a siesta whenever you feel like it, the sunrises as well as the sunsets, and staying outside until late.
The French have a word for it: Joie de Vivre, but I think the Spanish invented it. The Dutch sometimes joke that the Spanish are never in a hurry and that everything can wait until mañana, mañana, but just imagine how wonderful life is without stress.

Sun/ sea/ beach
What more could you want! Sun, sea and beach are the key ingredients for a wonderful relaxing holiday.
And Javea has more than enough sunshine and sea (where we regularly spot dolphins), as well as the most beautiful beaches in the most idyllic coves.
Javea has a very high number of hours of sunshine per year and receives an average of ….. mm of rainfall per year. In short: you don’t have to keep an eye on the weather forecast here or worry about your BBQ being rained out; the sun is shining and the terraces are open!
